Joopen's Happy Life

Mondays and my weekend September 29, 2008

Filed under: Random — joopen @ 3:01 pm

Everyone is always so down on Mondays. Usually I’m in this group as well but for some reason this Monday is different. I’m energized and ready to go for the week. I have no idea why but I’m really excited its Monday. Why can’t we always be this way? I mean think about it….in a way its a fresh start…a brand new week! Last week is over this week is anew!

The weekend is over which is what tends to make people bummed out. They’ve gotta go back to work.

My weekend was pretty good. Satruday I had lunch with Kim…its been a few weeks since we’ve see each other and we live in the same town! That’s proof that life is just crazy busy. I made some brownies in the afternoon and then drove to Topeka to hang out with some friends. Had a good time there drove home Saturday night. Sunday was the interesting day…

As usual went to Salina for church. Went to lunch with Sarah which was great! Did a little shopping..hit sonic for happy hours! Then we were driving down the road (9th in Salina) and this lady starts waving at us. Sarah waved back. lol We didn’t know her. Finally she did the “roll down your window” motion. I did and pulled up next to her. She kindly mentioned that my back tire was going flat. I quickly got to a gas station put air in it and headed to the only tire place I knew was open on Sundays….walmart. BOOOOOO I hate taking my car into walmart but I made an exception. Dropped Tibby (the car) off and walked around the store for 45min or so. Finally the car is done. They found a screw (cut in half lengthwise) in the tire.

—–I’m pretty frusterated with this… this is the 3rd tire that’s had a screw or nail in it in the past 3 months! STUPID ROADS!—–

They patched it and $10 later we were headed out. As I was walking out I fell in the doorway.

One of those falls that you ALMOST catch yourself and at the last second you…well you don’t and you give up and give into gravity. I just sat on the floor of Wal-mart while the employees wondered if I would sue them. I usually don’t get embarrassed very easily. This was the exception…had the 4 employees laughed with my friend and I then it would have been fine, no embarrassment. Since they were so concerned about me suing them they were trying to act all serious and professional so they changed my whole experience. Finally I gathered my pride and walked out to my newly fixed car. Later I decided it was probably time to head home. As I left Salina I realized I hadn’t gotten a call yet so I called him. He had just gotten to Salina…..missed him by just a few min and a few miles. Had a nice chat though.

Good weekend…a little busy…a little stressful…a little embarrassing….but still a great one!

So I’m at work with next to nothing to do. Meaning I should do things, but I’m not because they’re not immediate. Anyway I thought I’d share a few things that I’ve put on my work webpage. Some things I find funny, cool, and strange….

This first one is a video of the LHC Rap. Have you heard about the Large Hadron Collider? Here’s a rap about it.

Here’s a question… do you need a new best friend??? Well so does Pairs! She’s so desprate for attention and a “new best friend” that she’s created a tv show about it.

Ok well I can’t get the video to show up so if you want to see how lame it is to plede for attention and a new bff visit parisbff.com

And last but not least….. you can find out your career by picking colors! Yes its true….there is an ocupation test baised on colors. I took it my results were fairly accurate.. I guess. If you want to take it…. check it out!

Worried, tired, & waiting. September 23, 2008

Well I’m all worried.  So much so I think I may have made myself feel ill today.  I always try to remember one of the only smart things a stupid boy once told me.. ” Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but doesn’t get you anywhere.”

Why am I worried……

Had someone put in their 2 weeks notice at work.  Wondering who’s going to cover that work until we hire someone new. That worries me.

Grandpa P. had the battery in his pacemaker replaced last week.  It didn’t go all together well.  He’s having lots of problems, in and out of hospitals and nursing homes.  That worries me.

Dad is soooo stressed about grandpa I have rarely seen him like this. That worries me.

Have been feeling really tired lately, and having a few symptoms that arn’t good.  Went for my scheduled 3 month blood test today. Waiting for the results.  That worries me.

I suppose all I can do is pray and wait.  That worries me too.

What a glorious day it is OUTSIDE! Not to shabby inside either!!

Haven’t done a whole lot today. Actually most of the weeks been fairly slow work wise. A few busy moments but nothing major. Had a politian come in today to record… finished his spot at 25 seconds.. asked if I could make it 30….what the heck??! Sure I’ll work magic! lol I got it to 28.3 and called it good.

Apparently the bar of appropriate work clothing has dropped majorly today. Now I know I don’t wear the best outfits…and should probably be a contestant on the show what not to wear.. BUT this tops most. Today Micheal came into work in a blue and gray sleeveless shirt. VERY sleeveless! Still sporting that purple K-State hat as usual and only taking it off to comb his mullet. He walked down the hallway when he first got here and Justin and I both made a disgusted face at each other. lol Apparently anything goes! EEEW he just walked over and sat down…saying I’ve gotta put my feet up “AHHHhhhhh” I’ll try to get a picture of this blessed man today but he’s leaving soon so I doubt it.

Going to the furniture store tomorrow..another remote… this one is their “Grand Opening Sale” woot woot!

EDIT: GOOD NEWS (well I dunno if its good) Justin got a picture of Micheal the picture doesn’t do justice to the presences but man… here ya go…..

.

2 EDIT: Micheal left and the new lady Kay is attempting to run the high school football game on-air.  I say attempting because of what just happened.  She had NOTHING on-air for quite some time.  Phones were ringing like crazy!  She was busy messing with the hold button on the phone and didn’t realize everytime she put in the opeinging liner it was going to the bottom of the commercial break because that’s where she had clicked.  I went over and did what I could to fix it.  Anyway back on-air her boss J. came in (druck off his you-know-what) he waves at me throught the window like a little kid.  Then comes in and says “The time I give them is just a little game I like to play” WHAT?!? Then he left, came back and said “You’re lookin’ good!” and left again.  He’s now chatting it up with Kay…good lord what’s next?

So at work today I was trying to make a logo for a compnay (yes apparently that’s my job now, create logos for companies who don’t have one and want to be on our website.) WHATEVER! Anyway its an italian cafe their big on wine. So I was seaching the net to find things to do with win. CRAZY stuff out there. This one made me laugh out loud….

Honestly….why??? Is it really a necessity?

Or how about this one…

Now people have to drink wine at the same time?? WHAT?!? Maybe I’m just crazy…which can be very true. And maybe its because I don’t know a whole lot about wine.. but honestly?? How is this beneficial??
Who would even want to use it?

Later I was looking for something else for the web
and this came up….

While this seems unnecessary as well, it made me laugh and I really enjoy it.

Man and I thought I was nuts! At least I don’t have these things or haven’t invented anything like them! I think I’ll do what K-State (salina) does and call it “Beyond Ordinary!”

I’m back. September 16, 2008

Filed under: Random — joopen @ 6:51 pm

Welp I’m back. Vacation is over.

My parents and I dove down to Waco TX on Thrusday to visit my sister and bro-in-law.

We had a GREAT visit! Stayed until Monday morning. We got to see the Baylor campus, all over Waco, the Baylor Bears (real bears on the campus), hang out with Angela and Matt’s friends, and shop a little. It was really a good time. Not to mention spending 9+ hours in the car (2 times) with my parents…ENTERTAINING to say the least! We did have an interesting night Saturday when Sophie (my niece/Angela&Matt’s Dog) kept us up all night. We found out about 3am that she’d eaten an entire bag of Chocolate chips. 25lb dog full of a 1lb bag of chocolate. You do the math. She was CRAZY for about 12 hours.

She’s such a sweet dog though you can’t stay mad at her! I’ll post some pics later of her climbing in our suit cases to go home with us.

Had a great phone call in the middle of vacation too. Sunday night…Someone offered to steal a Jet for me. How sweet! That same someone came up with a great saying that I should use at work. If you’ve ever seen King of The Hill you know Hank Hill (the dad) always is disappointed with the son (Bobby). He always says “Damnit Bobby!” I was told I should just start saying that to my boss… lol I like the idea but won’t do it.

We only made about 2 stops on the way to Waco and about 3 on the way back. On the way back we HAD to stop in Oklahoma because we saw a Harley Davidson store. We spent a good 45min- to an hour looking for shirts because you know you’ve gotta add an Oklahoma shirt to your collection of 100 different ones!! lol all I could do was laugh really. Good trip though…glad we got to go. Miss them already though! Back to the daily grind now.
