Glad to see that spring has sprung.  I took this picture this morning in the middle of my front yard.  Its my ruler in the snow.  The yard is pretty even so I don’t think its in a snow drift looks close to 8 inches give or take a little.  The front porch measures over 5 inches but its protected by the house quite a bit.  Here’s the porch…

dsc00440Nothing compared to SW and W Kansas!  But still a good amount of snow.  So glad that spring is here.

UPDATE:  5:45pm – So the sun came out which helped melt some of the snow.  Street looks alright…messy but alright. So I ventured out to my driveway and spent some quality time with my MP3 player and shovel.

dsc00446Not beautiful …but I’m tired. So there ya go that’s as good as it gets.  I’m tired now.

So I’ve felt very motivated latley to change my life.  I tribute it the study we have recently started in our homegroup.  Its by Chip Ingrum and its called the miricle of life change.  Our studies have been going really good latley and very motivating.  Also a big part of this is our newest member in our homegroup.  Zach is his name.  I think he is inspiering us all.

During the first session of this study we had to name a few things we’d like to change in our lives.  I mentioned something I’ve struggled with for a long time.  Confidence.  I’d love to have some confidence….or a little more at least.  I don’t want to be over confident or anything but I do want some form of confidence.  Zach recommended a book for me to read.  Although it wont find the confidence in me by just reading it, It could inspire me or at least point me in the right direction.

uncommon-tony-dungy1I’ve started reading this book and so far I am really enjoying it.  The book is Uncommon by Tony Dungy.  Dungy is the Colts football head coach.  He’s written a number of books but I believe this is his most recent one.  Its about finding your significance.  He is a christian and is very spiritual.  The whole book is directed to focusing on your gifts, and talents and living your life an uncommon way with the confidence in your abilities.  Granted I’m only about half way through the book so far but I’m very interested.  I NEVER read but this has got me reading like crazy.  I know it’s not going to just hand over my confidence to me, but I do believe that will help me in my search for it.

Work Birthday March 11, 2009

So today is my actual birthday.  Woke up and was getting ready when I got a phone call at 4:50am  Mark remembered it was my birthday and called me before both he and I went to work.  Then I go to work with a coffee cake I made ready for an uneventful day.

During the show we start talking about American Idol when Robert says he’s going to grab one of the DJs from across the hall becuase they were just talking about A.I.  So he says just talk amungst yourself.  So I went on and on about American Idol and what I thought…as I was talking to myself.  Soon after Robert walks in with a paper plate holding a homemade taco and a cupcake with a candle in it!  Yup he MADE tacos for my birthday!  He brought in a crockpot of taco meat that he made and all the fixins like lettus, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa.  While I’m eating my taco (on-air) he gives me a pink bag and says this present goes with it.  I open it up and its a can of Squirt soda.  lol Squirt is kind of a Morning Show joke.  So I enjoyed my tacos and squirt this morning during the show thanks to Robert!!!!

Honestly am shocked!  It means a lot that he a.)remmeberd b.) cared  c.)made the food and d.)said he brought in tacos becuase he knows Mexican food is my favorite.  There was also a happy birthday sign on the studio window.  So we all got to enjoy tacos and coffee cake today!!!  I’m now enjoying a grape slush from sonic happy hours…. hey its my birthday!!

So recovering from the shock of my amazing surprise party I went to work today expecting a normal calm day at work.

Did the show(s) got the rest of my work done (for the moment) and was waiting around for the meeting.  Our meeting was pushed back from 12 to 12:20 today.  At about 12:10 Erin comes down stairs and tells me Robert needs to see me.  I walk up stairs and his office door is closed.  I open the door and behind the door stands Angela & Matt (my sister and bro-in-law) I couldn’t believe it.  They drove up from Texas!!! This is their spring break so they drove up to see me and family!!!!!  What a great surprise!

After my work meeting Angela, Matt, and I went to lunch at El Tap.. and we went to my house.  They stayed and chatted until about 5:30 and then they headed to KC to see the folks.  What a great surprise!! Any more surprises and I think I’ll have a heart attack!

SURPRISE! March 8, 2009

So today started out just like any other Sunday.  Got up and got ready.  I got to Salina, picked up Sarah and headed to church.  Went to Sunday school and church.  After church I figured we’d go for our usual “standing” lunch date with me, Sarah, and Carrie.  Carrie called and told Sarah she needed to do a few things and she’d call when she was ready.  Sarah and I went and got a few things at Walmart.  Then Carrie called.  Said she needed a favor from me.  Said she was at a park with her brother and after he left her car wouldn’t start.  She needed a jump.  Sarah and I get in my car and head to the park.  We’re driving to the shelter in the back (where Carrie said she had parked) when I notice a car that looks like Megans car… huh that’s strange, I thought,  then I noticed Rachels car and thought… wow did they have something and not invite me?  Strange again.. then I see Noah’s car….ok I get it now.  Because Rachel and Megan don’t know Noah.

Yes it was a Surprise party for me.  Crazy friends of mine threw me a surprise party for my birthday on Wednesday.  It was amazing to see all those people in one place!! Amazing the distance they all drove!  I had an awesome time!  Burke and Teresa drove up from Kinsley.  Lisa A. came from Garden City, Jamie from Wichita, Megan from Lawrence, Lisa B. from Ellsworth, and Noah, Matt, Harold, Sarah, & Carrie from Salina.  What a great time and a great Surprise!! I know that God has really blessed me and today it was overwhelmingly obvious!
